Circular rental service for medical equipment wins Impact Demo Day

20 February 2025

On February 6th, it was time for the Impact Demo Day pitch competition. Science Park Towers was buzzing with excitement as five teams from the Startup Program presented their business ideas to a jury and the audience. At stake was a prize of 10,000 SEK from Tillväxtstiftelsen and a trip to Techarena – Sweden’s largest tech fair. This year, Zyad Ebid claimed the first price with his innovative rental service for medical equipment.

I dreamt about this every single day from the very start. I kept picturing myself winning, over and over again – and in the end, it actually happened!

Focus on health and well-being innovations

The competing teams were a selection of participant from Science Park’s Startup Program. This autumn and winter the program has centred on business ideas that contribute to a healthier and a more wellbeing society.

Matilda Löf, business developer at the Startup Program, shared her thoughts on the evening:

– What a night! Impact Demo Day was filled with incredible energy, high-quality pitches and a fantastic atmosphere. Thanks to our amazing colleagues, a skilled jury, engaged participants, and an inspiring audience, it truly became an evening to remember. What’s especially exciting is that our focus on Health Tech proved to be spot on – we’ve built something really strong and now it’s time to take it to the next level.

Here are the winning teams from Impact Demo Day:

MY HERO – Winner of Impact Demo Day

Zyad Ebid

What if we could reduce waste, make healthcare more accessible and create a more sustainable medical sector at the same time? Every year, medical devices are purchased for short-term use – only to be discarded shortly after. MY HERO aims to change that.

By offering rental services for medical equipment, MY HERO seeks to extend the lifecycle of valuable resources, reduce environmental impact, and promote a more circular economy. Less waste, more access for those who need it – and healthcare that benefits both people and the planet.

Prize: 10,000 SEK from Tillväxtstiftelsen in Jönköping Län and a trip to Techarena

MoodScape – Winner of the Audience Award and Knowits prize

Micaela Stella & Tamás Jenei

MoodScape is a card game designed to help young people express and manage their emotions. Through emotion cards and scenarios players develop skills in empathy, communication and self-awareness in a fun and engaging way.

Like Safe Space, the idea for MoodScape first took shape during Impact Challenge, where the team saw how many young people struggle to articulate their feelings and understand different perspectives. The game is aimed for teenagers aged 15 to 19, and is being developed with youth psychologists to ensure a safe and meaningful learning experience. MoodScape was also the winning project in last autumn’s Impact Challenge, earning a 15,000 SEK prize from Tillväxtstiftelsen in Jönköpings Län.

Prize: 10 hours of free coaching from Knowit

EvoART Health

Pilip Vaitsiakhovich

Far too many people live with preventable health issues – simply because they don’t have the right tools to take action in time. But what if we could detect imbalances before symptoms even appear, optimise our well-being, and prevent illness before it takes hold?

That’s the vision behind EvoART Health. By combining biomedical analysis, personalised guidance, and the latest research, they help people take control of their health and build sustainable habits – especially after medical treatment.

Pilip Vaitsiakhovich, a biomedical analyst and the driving force behind EvoART Health, puts it like this:

“We take our cars in for service once or twice a year – it’s a no brainer to avoid breakdowns and costly repairs. But how often do we give our own bodies the same level of care? Just like a car, your body needs regular check-ups to function properly and to avoid serious issues down the line.”

SAFE SPACE

Luis Feldmann, Syme van der Snee, Nadine Parzy

Many young people lack a safe and natural space to turn to when navigating their first sexual experience. A lack of knowledge and uncertainty can lead to unnecessary anxiety, and talking to parents, teachers or friends doesn’t always feel like an option.

That’s what inspired the creators of Safe Space – a platform designed to offer young people a safe, discreet and judgment-free space to explore and understand their first sexual experiences. The idea was born during Impact Challenge, an annual competition by Science Park and Jönköping University, where students tackle various societal challenges and develop innovative solutions.

The jury of the evening

Jury’s motivation

“Backed by an experienced and dedicated team, this solution is both scalable and impactful. By ensuring a more efficient, transparent and responsible approach to medical equipment management, My Hero has the potential to drive real change for individuals and communities worldwide.”

About the Startup Program

At Science Park, we believe that technology and entrepreneurship play a key role in addressing societal challenges. The time to act is now. But driving real change requires more than just great ideas – it takes engaged, creative people and practical, scalable solutions.

The Startup Program is an intensive program designed for individuals with ideas that have the potential to make the world a better place through technology. Over the course of several months, participants attend lectures and workshops, receive hands-on coaching from business developers, and refine their concepts.

This spring, the program has focused on business ideas that leverage AI to create positive impact. By the end of the program, participants are expected to have transformed their initial ideas into viable business concepts. The program culminates in the Impact Demo Day, where participants pitch their ideas to a jury.
