Infobric – from casual coffee talk to a thriving business

Rewind to 2004, in the smallest basement office at Science Park in Jönköping, a tiny startup was just getting off the ground. Fast forward 17 years, and Infobric, now a market leading company, is delivering its services from Science Park Towers, not far from where it all began. The journey has come full circle – yet for Infobric, this is only the beginning.

It's hard to believe. It all started in a break room at Science Park back in 2004.

Dan Friberg, CEO of Infobric Group

What started in a small basement office in Science Park has grown into a company with over 300 employees and a turnover of approximately 450 million SEK in 2020. In May 2021, Infobric took a major step forward by acquiring MSite – a leading UK company specialising in human resources, safety and productivity in the construction sector.

With this latest acquisiton, Infobric has expanded into a group of eight companies, all working together to drive the digital transformation of an entire industry.

And the office? Well, fittingly enough, it is now the largest in the building – located proudly on the top floor of Science Park Towers in Jönköping.

For sustainable, safe and efficient construction sites

Infobric is a SaaS company (Software as a Service) that develops cloud-based software solutions to improve safety and efficiency on construction sites. The company offers a complete suite of services that help contractors manage everything from attendance tracking and competency verification to supplier control, access systems, and the monitoring of vehicles, machinery and tools. All designed to boost productivity and profitability in construction projects. Infobric is active in five countries with Sweden, Norway and the UK as its key markets.

– It all started with a group of entrepreneurs drinking coffee at Science Park, discussing the challenges of theft and break-ins at construction sites. They thought, there must be a way to use technology to develop smarter electronic locks to prevent this, says Dan.

From Business Developer to CEO

And that’s how it all started. Theft at construction sites isn’t just costly because tools need replacing – it also disrupts productivity, leading to significant downtime costs, including penalties for delays.

Infobric’s CEO, Dan Friberg, sits in front of a wooden wall and laughs. What began as a simple idea soon turned into a business, leading to the launch of the startup Safetool. Back then, Dan was a business developer at Science Park, mentoring the company’s founders – Lars-Göran Lindqvist, Claes Rydin, Kenneth Johansson and Werner Hilliges – through its first two years.

By 2016, when Dan was offered the role of Infobric’s CEO, he had already been part of its journey for twelve years – first as a business developer, then as CEO of Science Park, and also as a board member and chairman of Infobric.

It's an incredible journey – to first mentor a company you're passionate about, then invest in it, and eventually have the privilege of leading it. And in addition, to see the product in action right outside the window, says Dan.

Real change

Since its launch in 2004, Infobric has grown at an incredible pace, constantly expanding its product range. Dan believes that a major reason for this success is the strong customers relationships built from day one – not just through meetings, but by truly engaging with customers in a meaningful and personal way. His advice to future entrepreneurs and startups? Don’t get stuck in endless planning. Pick up the phone, meet your customers, and figure out solutions as you go. But most importantly – surround yourself with a team of people who are genuinely committed to making a real difference.

– What I’m most proud of at Infobric is the team. There’s an incredible drive and commitment to ambitious goals. We’re fortunate to have such talented individuals on board – without them, Infobric wouldn’t be where we are today, says Dan.

Science Park – a guiding partner along the journey

From an idea, a startup, and the smallest basement office – to investments, expansion, and the largest office in the building. Science Park has had the privilege of supporting this growth every step of the way, through business development, funding and providing the right environment. Gustav Österström, CEO of Science Park, shares his thoughts on the company’s development:

– Infobric is a great example of success. They are innovative and play a key role in transforming an entire industry. They are also a source of inspiration for other entrepreneurs and growing businesses. We look forward to a continued partnership.
