Start your business
To get from the idea stage to actually start your own business can be both scary and complicated. But we are happy to help you put together the pieces.
Below, we have written some of the most important things to consider practically when you start your business.
Which company form to choose
Sole proprietorship (sole trader/private business) or limited liability companies are the options we recommend you should look at first. There are a number of different aspects to take in consideration when making the decision, including the number of people who will be involved in the company, what responsibility an individual/owner should have and how big the risk is that something goes wrong and also the economy and taxes.
When you should start the company
It is primarily about when you have a need for it. You can prepare as much as possible before you start your company, but when the time comes for the purchase or sale it tends to be the starting point for the registration. If you have an agreement that will be signed by the company registration should already be made.
Company name and/or brand
You must register your company name at Bolagsverket when you start a limited company. You will then be assigned a registration number and then you register the company for F-tax. Your right to the company name applies throughout the country.
If you start a sole proprietorship, you can choose to pay 900 SEK and have a protection (or rather sole rights) for your company name in the county where you are registered, but there is no requirement for this.
You register trademarks with the Patent- och registreringsverket (PRV). Then you protect more than just the name, like your logo for instance.
